I once described myself as a "closet geek" during a team meeting at P&G. Our group HR Director immediately remarked, "Paul, there is nothing closet about it." I can't argue. As one who is relentlessly curious, I can't help but deep-dive into data in search of facts (check out my weather page if you want proof). The bookmarks on my computer look like an old Yellow Pages directory of government agencies (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census Bureau, CIA World Factbook, etc.).
I love music and sports and fishing and landscaping (don't call it gardening). I like to work to the point of physical or mental exhaustion, but I also like sipping on an IPA or two. Nothing makes me feel better than a 35-mile bike ride or taking down a couple of dead trees (or doing both, as I did one Saturday in 2016). It nearly killed me, but the IPA's afterward were good.
I've got a saint of a wife (she puts up with me) and two incredibly smart kids who are now out of high school (where they'll be when you read this, I do not know). Best compliment I ever got was when my son thanked me for teaching him how to think - not WHAT to think, how to think. That's all I could ask for. And that they always wear a seatbelt.
Going back to that relentlessly curious part, I’ve been fortunate to split my career between working for some of our greatest companies (Procter & Gamble, Abbott Laboratories, Conoco/DuPont) and for myself (Prime Valet Cleaners, Onboard Imports/OBI-USA and Premium Wire), allowing me to gain a broad set of skills and experiences. I am passionate about data, culture, customer service, and people development as the foundation for finding the best way to deliver what customers want.
My corporate experiences taught me how processes can and should work, while my self-employment has taught me how to actually envision, build and implement processes to meet the needs of a growing and changing business. Along the way, I’ve learned finance, marketing, technical and leadership skills that apply to any business, regardless of size - and would love nothing more than to put those skills to work for you.
