Latin Name:Echinacea 'Prairie Splendor'
Common:'Prairie Splendor' Coneflower
Plant Type:10
Height/Width:18-24inx24in
Sun Pref:Full sun
Bloom Time:June to first frost
Notes:Unanimously voted in as a 2007 Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner! This is the first Echinacea to bloom 100% the first year from seed! It was introduced by S&G Flowers. Great as cut flowers! Heat and drought tolerant. Good for naturalizing a large area. These plants are long-lived, low-maintenance and easy to grow.
Care:-Light, loamy soils are best but coneflowers will grow in any well-drained soil. Once established, they are quite drought tolerant. -Though they will tolerate light shade, fewer flowers will be produced -Deadheading keeps plants looking fresh (stop in late August for seed heads to form ? finch food) -Cutting plants back by ? or so early June will delay flowering for 2 weeks and help plants bloom longer into the season-Division of its clumps can be made in the spring every 3-4 years, but not necessary. Best propagation time is spring. Cut back dead foliage in spring. Deadhead after blooming. Fertilize with Plant-tone or Miracle Gro
pH:0
