Plant ID:401
Latin Name:Anemone tomentosa 'Robustissima'
Common:Anemone tomentosa 'Robustissima'
Plant Type:10
Height/Width:18-24inx16-18in
Sun Pref:Full sun/part shade
Bloom Time:Fall
Notes:This is the easiest to grow, and hardiest of all the fall-blooming Anemone, with a vigorous, spreading habit and reliable late-summer display. Plants form a low mound of grape-like green leaves, with taller branching stems of soft-pink cup-shaped flowers. Nice spreading anemone, forming a large mound of attractively cut foliage with plenty of flowers in late summer. Some sources say it gets to 4ft tall, but ours certainly don't top 2 ft. In our garden it doesn't get out of hand, although we dig some out every year to keep it in check.
Care:Divide in spring every couple of years to maintain control. Loves a rich, moist site. Divide in early spring or after flowering, pot up for a year and replant in spring. The fluffy seedheads have interesting winter effect. This plant needs plenty of room, and is sometimes used as a tall groundcover along ponds or streams
